I am a PhD student at KCL supervised by Peter Jossen and aligned with the LSGNT. I like any kind of maths as long as I understand it but I am particularly interested in algebraic geometry and all flavours of number theory. Before starting my PhD, I did my master's project on decidability problems related to matrices. Outside of maths, I'm a big basketball fan, I can get pretty obsessed with board games, and I'm an aspiring triathlete.

I am broadly interested in differential geometry and algebraic topology. Before starting my course at the LSGNT, I studied for an integrated Masters' MMath degree in Oxford and wrote a dissertation on Morse-Novikov theory. Outside of mathematics, I am an avid reader and I occasionally write poetry, I am interested in philosophy, history, art and music, and I enjoy going on long walks.

Geometric analysis and differential geometry are my main interests. In particular, I'm mostly interested in the applications of PDE and geometric measure theory in various geometry topics. Before starting my PhD, I completed my Master's degree at Sharif University in Tehran, where I did my Master's thesis in the theory of PDE. Outside of mathematics, I spend most of my time reading books, watching movies, and hiking.

I am interested in both number theory and geometry, especially anything algebraic or combinatorial. Before coming to London, I completed my integrated master’s at Warwick. My master’s thesis was a proof of the Universality Theorem of matroids. Outside of mathematics, I love to read, watch lots of sports, and visit museums.

I am mainly interested in Algebraic Number Theory, especially elliptic curves, number and local fields and just anything with an algebraic/Galois or p-adic flavour. I completed my Bachelor’s degree at the University of Padova, then I joined the ALGANT Master program, spending one year in Padova and one year at Concordia University in Montreal. The topic of my Master thesis was the Hodge-Tate decomposition for the Tate module of a p-adic abelian variety. In my spare time, you might find me playing tennis, table tennis, chess, poker or simply listening to music.

Isabel Rendell

Research interests: Number Theory

Institution: University College London

I am interested in both algebraic and analytic number theory. I am particularly fascinated by elliptic curves and modular forms, and how different areas of number theory are connected to each other. Before joining the LSGNT I completed my integrated master’s degree at UCL, where I did my master’s project on the Congruent Number Problem (supervised by Dr Luis Garcia Martinez). When not doing maths I can probably be found playing saxophone or going out with friends.

My main interest lies in algebraic number theory. I especially enjoy studying anything that can be useful for solving Diophantine equations. Before coming to the LSGNT I studied in Utrecht, where my master's thesis was concerned with deriving lower bounds for class numbers of hyperelliptic function fields using elliptic curve ideal class pairings. Besides mathematics, I like playing (table) tennis, playing music, reading, and exploring London.

As a guy of eclectic tastes, I like virtually anything that is of an algebraic nature, especially group theory, algebraic number theory and (although I don't know any) algebraic geometry. Before joining the LSGNT, I completed an integrated masters at Imperial where my final dissertation was on the Iwasawa main conjecture. Outside of struggling with maths, I enjoy any sport with a racquet or a bat, hiking, and spending time with friends and family.

I am an algebraic number theorist. In particular, I am interested in elliptic curves, L-functions and most things with 'p-adic' in the name. In a previous life, I completed my bachelor's and master's degrees in Cambridge, where I wrote my part III essay on deformations of p-adic Galois representations. Outside of that, I can be found watching cricket (at the Oval, weather-permitting) or scouting out old cemeteries and medieval churches.

I'm broadly interested in number theory, arithmetic algebraic geometry and other algebra related stuffs. I love seeing the interactions between subjects, and wish to investigate them in the future. I did my undergraduate in Tsinghua and Master in Imperial related to Etale Cohomology. During spare time I usually play with probability, computer related stuff, electronics and think about problems about nature.

My current maths interests are in algebraic geometry in all of its flavours. At some point it was algebra, and before that physics. I am also very curious to learn more about the interaction between algebraic geometry and number theory. I did an MSc at KCL completing projects on Dedekind domains and DuVal singularities. Outside of maths I have a variety of (often crafty) hobbies.

Aporva Varshney

Research interests: Geometry

Institution: University College London

I am a PhD student at UCL, supervised by Dr Ed Segal and aligned with the LSGNT. I am interested in algebraic geometry, and particularly concepts with links to theoretical physics. Previously, I completed an integrated master's degree in maths and computer science at Imperial College London, where my thesis was on Berkovich spaces. Outside of maths, I like cooking, programming and penny-boarding.

Stefania Vassiliadis

Institution: Imperial College London

I'm interested in Algebraic Geometry, in particular in Birational Geometry. Before coming to the LSGNT, I was part of the ALGANT Program and I studied in Padova and Leiden. In my Master's thesis I studied Fano Manifolds as Mori Dream Spaces. Outside of mathematics, I love playing volleyball and I enjoy good food and drinks with friends.

My interests lie between analytic number theory and combinatorics, as well as in the interactions between them. I completed my undergraduate degree at Oxford, where I wrote my master's thesis on the circle method, applied to a variant of Waring's problem. In my free time, if I'm not in a pub, you'll find me listening to electronic music (mostly techno and house), looking for new math puzzles and riddles, or messing around with my computer.

My main interests are differential geometry and topology. I have studied these topics together with some physics as part of my bachelors in Munich and the Part III in Cambridge, where I wrote an essay about the Hodge decomposition theorem. More recently I became fascinated with various applications of geometry to data science. Apart from my own studies and teaching beautiful mathematics and physics, I like acrobatics, chess, cheese, playing handball and I enjoy the freedom that bikes and hikes give me.

I'm mainly interested in number theory, arithmetic geometry and representation theory, especially the Langlands program and related fields. Before joining the LSGNT, I completed my Bachelor's degree at Fudan University. The topic of my Bachelor thesis was about Kolyvagin's theorem and I also learned something about special fiber of Shimura variety. Besides mathematics, I like playing (table) tennis, watching movies and hiking.

I am a geometer. At the moment I am interested in learning more about enumerative geometry, moduli problems and gauge theory. I studied in Beijing and Zürich before coming to London. Outside math, I really enjoy reading (classics, short stories, genre fictions, etc).
